The post is for 36 hours per week; 39 weeks of the year and will be based in the main school.

 

Dalbeattie High School is situated on the western fringe of Dalbeattie, in the valley of the river Urr, close to the Solway Firth in one of the most attractive areas of Dumfries & Galloway.  A location amidst farmland with an outlook to the granite forested hills of the Stewartry beyond provides a magnificent setting for the school.

Dalbeattie High School serves some 370 + pupils drawn from Dalbeattie and the surrounding communities of Beeswing, Caulkerbush, Colvend, Kippford, Kirkgunzeon, Rockcliffe and Palnackie. It is an attractive, welcoming and vibrant centre for learning and achievement.   We are a school with an extremely dedicated, diligent and highly skilled team of staff who are committed to providing the best possible learning experiences and personal support for our young people.

 

As part of the Admin Team, the Administrative Assistant at Dalbeattie High School will assist and support the School Support Manager in implementing the smooth and efficient running of the school office. They play a vital role and are an important member of the whole school staff.

 

The Administrative Assistant  will assist with providing an overall efficient administrative support service by having a flexible approached towards own workload, allocating work to more junior members of staff, and leading some specific areas of work as required.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.  

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
