Project Team - Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS)

Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders Councils, along with Dumfries and Galloway and Borders Colleges, South of Scotland Enterprise and key stakeholders including Skills Development Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Engineering Forum and Scottish Borders Training Association have successfully bid to deliver the Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS) project.

The overall aim of the Advancing Manufacturing Challenge Fund (AMCF) is for projects to have the scale and level of ambition required to have a significant impact on developing the manufacturing capabilities of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) within Scotland, which should lead to long-term transformational change.

This project is for manufacturing SMEs in the South of Scotland and will provide access to advanced manufacturing technologies. The project will focus on supporting SMEs who have potential new products, to help develop them for market, as well as upskilling the workforce and encouraging innovation.

We are now recruiting for Business and Facilities Co-ordinators to help progress the further development and implementation of the strategy to build a brighter economic future through increased innovative manufacturing, on a larger scale, for the South of Scotland. The primary purpose of the posts is to support the Council and partners to deliver its Advancing Manufacturing Challenge Fund project working with Small to Medium Enterprises across the South of Scotland.

The post holders will be accountable for:

  • Provision of one to one and group support including assisting with technical knowledge in relation to manufacturing machinery and software (ERP / CAD etc)
  • implementing support requested through the project in line with the delivery of the project milestones, targets and outcomes including:
    • Supporting SMEs and micro businesses involved in manufacturing across sectors including Food and Drink, Construction, Textile, Chemical, Metals and Timber Product to improve their innovation performance
    • Engaging business Leaders and developing Advancing Manufacturing Champions
    • Supporting SMEs with small scale research and development and product development
  • Contributing to the effective management, operation, and administration of the project.

Requirements

  • Contribution to and supporting broader strategic programmes in support of the work of the project as required.
