Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work within a diverse and multi-skilled Directorate?

Are you methodical and systematic? Do you pay attention to detail whilst ensuring accuracy? Then the role of Investigation and Review Officer could be for you.

You will work as and when required and will contribute to and support the delivery of the Children, Young People & Lifelong Learning Complaint Handling Process (CHP) across Education, Social Work and Lifelong Learning & Wellbeing Services.

You will undertake independent and comprehensive investigations in line with Stage 2 of the new Integrated Services CHP, the new SWS CHP and in compliance with the existing Corporate CHP as determined by the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO).

Your findings will contribute to the development of meaningful learning plans to evidence our engagement and the action taken to address areas of concern or points of complaint in accordance with the SPSO regulations.

You will be confident in undertaking difficult conversations, an effective mediator and careful listener, ensuring an accurate and efficient process is maintained. You will report your findings, advise and make recommendations based on your investigation to the Performance and Quality Manager.

You will work as part of a small team based in Dumfries but will be required to travel to various locations across the region to conduct interviews with a range of services, service users, parents and partners as required.

You will be called upon to undertake Stage 2 investigations under the CHP as and when required and will be in line with legislative timescales.

You will be fully supported by the team in maintaining an up to date understanding of relevant Council Policy, Legislation and Regulations as well as the finer detail of service delivery and management arrangements.
