Casual Swimming Teacher

Are you passionate about providing high quality swimming tuition and looking for a new challenge?
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Swimming Teachers to assist in the delivery of our Curriculum and Rainbow Swim Scheme Swimming Programme on a supply basis to cover annual leave and sickness absences.
Working for DG One Leisure Complex, you will be based at DG One Swimming @ Dumfries Ice Bowl, you will be responsible for instructing swimming lessons and assisting with the administration and promotion of the Rainbow Swim Scheme as and when required. You will also assist in the delivery of our Curriculum Swimming Programme. Instruction will take place during the daytime, evenings and weekends.
You will ideally possess a current UKCC Level 2 Teaching Aquatics certificate, or equivalent. A UKCC Level 1 Teaching Aquatics certificate is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, be enthusiastic, reliable and have experience of teaching children and adults. You will also have experience of writing and following lesson plans and the ability to work with varying abilities of swimmers. You must have excellent Customer Care skills. Ideally you will have a back-ground knowledge of Dumfries Council Rainbow Swim Scheme, and an understanding of Child Protection Issues. A First Aid Certificate and knowledge of current Health and Safety issues are desirable.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
