We are currently seeking to recruit a Clerical Assistant to work 30 hours per week, 38 weeks per year, on a fixed term basis until June 2022 . You will carry out clerical duties under minimum supervision to facilitate the smooth, efficient running of the Reception and assist the School Office. You will be the first point of contact for day to day enquiries, including answering and making calls.
You must have a good standard of education, Standard Grade Level 3 or above in English and Mathematics. You must have experience of dealing with the public and young people as well as good general office experience. An aptitude for PC work and knowledge of office systems and equipment are essential. You must be flexible and have a pleasant manner. Good interpersonal skills are essential as is a full understanding of the need for absolute confidentiality.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from our line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
