Community Learning & Development Assistant - Year of Young People (Temporary)

£10,539 - £11,308.05

You will be required to work 18 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual, experienced in working with young people.

This post will see the person working within our Year of Young People team across Dumfries & Galloway to deliver exciting new projects for young people as part of the Scottish Government themed Year of Young People.

2018 is Scotland’s Year of Young People and within Dumfries & Galloway we have an exciting plan of activities, events and programmes for young people to take part in across the region. This post will be involved in delivering this exciting programme for young people aged 8-26. Full details of the Year of Young People plan for Dumfries & Galloway can be found at

This post holder will also have lead responsibility for taking forward elements of a grassroots programme and delivery of the regions Year of Young People plan.

Applicants should have experience in engaging with and assessing the needs of young people. In addition, they should have a knowledge of the issues affecting young people and have experience in organising learning programmes, with a focus on accredited youth work opportunities and employability skills. All applicants must be able to drive.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
