You will be required to work 7.25 hours per week (1 hour 27 minutes daily – times of work will be 8.20am to 9.20am and 2.55pm to 3.32pm), 38 weeks per year.
You will be required to assist school pupils in crossing a potentially busy highway, Undertake duties concerned with the safe passage of school children and other pedestrians across roads to and from school.
For example, control and direction of traffic at crossing areas, operation of hazard warning signs, and identification of any roadside hazards.
The control of the behaviour of children at crossing areas is a major requirement of the job.
The post will involve working in all weather conditions.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
The above salary includes a current living wage supplement.
