The Young Peoples Service are offering an exciting opportunity for adults who are highly experienced in working with young people to join an innovative and award winning youth work team to establish our first digital and online team, which will be providing a range of digital and online services, online services as well as finding creative ways to get information and advice to young people.
This post will be part of a team to develop and deliver online programmes, digital content, and training, based on issues important to young people. We are looking for candidates that are experienced in working with young people and have skills which may include social media campaigns, videography, photography, animation, web design – We need people who are creative and innovative in how we can engage young people using modern digital platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new online and digital team where you will help establish a digital youth work presence in Dumfries and Galloway and co-produce the content alongside young people.
These online posts will create content but you will also be expected to deliver one to one support sessions, group work programmes and personalised support to young people aged 12-18 online using our new custom built website which will be launched later in 2020.
The purpose of this new team is to provide low level mental health support and early intervention to support our Councils commitment to provide low level mental health support across Dumfries and Galloway to help deal with the impact of COVID-19 on young people.
This post holder(s) will work as part of the Youth Enquiry Service Team, rolling out their nationally recognised model for working with our most vulnerable young people, in each Ward as part of the focus on reducing the attainment gap.
• This post will work Tuesday-Saturday (Rest Days Mon/Tue).
These challenging and stimulating posts are part of a wider team of workers developing and supporting creative youth work opportunities and involvement across Dumfries and Galloway.
This post is fixed term for 3 years.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
