As part of wider local welfare provision, Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Revenue and Benefit Section has responsibility for the delivery of the Scottish Welfare Fund (Community Care Grants and Crisis Grants for Living Expenses).
Dumfries and Galloway Council are looking for a motivated individual to join our Discretionary Budgets Team, to administer the Scottish Welfare Fund and Discretionary Housing Payments.
The post is temporary for up to a year, full time and you will be required to work 36 hours per week during normal office hours from Monday to Friday.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
Full training and support will be provided however you must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
Educated to Higher level in English and/or Mathematics (or equivalent) you will have excellent communication skills, good computer skills and knowledge of software applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience of working with other state benefits (Housing Benefit/Council Tax Reduction, DWP benefits) would be an advantage.
Experience of working with members of the public is desirable, and you must be able to meet deadlines and deal with issues professionally.
