You will be required to work 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Early Learning & Childcare Senior Practitioner at Kelloholm Nursery.  The Nursery is currently registered to accommodate 60 pupils both afternoon and morning.  It has recently enrolled 2 year old children and is now offering 1140hrs to families. Kelloholm Nursery is very much at the centre of the community and works closely with all partner agencies.

The Nursery is very well resourced and benefits from a large enclosed outdoor area. The Nursery shares space within the school e.g. main hall for sports activities and the large open playground which includes green field areas, climbing wall and garden area.

You will contribute to effective early learning opportunities and environments by working as part of a team to support the development of high quality, integrated early years services for children and families.

You will have experience of early years provision and have a sound knowledge of childhood development. You will also have good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.  You will work well under direction, use your own initiative as required and be an effective team worker who understands the importance of confidentiality.

You must hold a relevant Early Years qualification, as specified by the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC), which will enable you to register with SSSC as a practitioner. All successful applicants for early education and child care posts will be required to register with the SSSC.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
