We are currently recruiting for a temporary Employability Support Worker to join our busy Employability Team.
This challenging and exciting role will support the successful delivery of the European Structural Fund Programme 2014 -2020, which aims to reduce regional disparities in income, wealth and opportunities.
The successful candidate will focus on duty support work within Nith Place, supporting clients through drop-in services to access specialist support to progress into employment, recognising that this may involve accessing other services and opportunities such as learning, training and volunteering.
Working to help clients remove any barriers to progression by accessing appropriate support and funding, this post requires a holistic approach, including a robust knowledge local support initiatives and training providers.
Whilst the post is based in Dumfries, the post-holders will be expected to be flexible and responsive to demand. The post is temporary for up to one year.
You should possess an SVQ Level 2 in Advice, Guidance, Social Welfare or Community Learning & Development related discipline or demonstrate equivalence. You should also have experience of working with young people and adults in a 1-1 or group basis. You should have knowledge of a wide range of support services, employability sector and the welfare system.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement for this post, however if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
This is a temporary post for a period of up to 12 months.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
These posts are part funded by the European Structural Funds and as such, the post holders will be solely involved in Structural Funds activity.
