Graduate – Trainee Technician (2) (Fixed Term)
Dumfries & Galloway and The Scottish Borders

You will work 36 hours per week.  These posts are fixed term for a period of 1 year.

Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders Councils, along with Dumfries and Galloway and Borders Colleges, South of Scotland Enterprise and key stakeholders including Skills Development Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Engineering Forum and Scottish Borders Training Association have successfully bid to deliver the Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS) project.

The overall aim of the Advancing Manufacturing Challenge Fund (AMCF) is for projects to have the scale and level of ambition required to have a significant impact on developing the manufacturing capabilities of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) within Scotland, which should lead to long-term transformational change.

The AIMS project offers manufacturing SMEs in the South of Scotland access to advanced innovation facilities incorporating state-of-the-art equipment and technology. The project focus is on supporting SMEs that have potential new products, to help develop them for market, as well as upskilling the workforce and encouraging innovation.

At delivery stage, this exciting project has the potential to transform manufacturing in the South of Scotland and has fantastic opportunities for two Graduate Trainee Technicians to join our dynamic team.

The Graduate Trainee Technician will learn the skills and expertise it takes to contribute to the innovation and development of new products, introducing businesses to new technology and innovative ways of manufacture.

Candidates will have a strong and demonstrable interest in engineering and technology, so, if you have the drive to -

•    Help improve manufacturing in the South of Scotland,
•    Work hard to unlock your potential,
•    Be in a role where you are hands on and making a difference, then
kickstarting your career journey as Graduate Trainee Technician will provide a positive experience.  Operating within innovative facilities incorporating state of the art equipment and technology, we will provide you with all the hands-on experience and skills you need to provide support to the technical team in the delivery of the project’s services.

The funding for this post is from Young Person’s Guarantee so to be eligible to apply you must be a recent graduate aged 16-24, currently unemployed and residing in Dumfries and Galloway or the Scottish Borders.
