We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Principal Teacher at 
Port William Primary School. The school is situated within the picturesque Machars area of Dumfries and Galloway and has a current school roll of 65 pupils. The school has a welcoming ethos with supportive parents, a friendly staff team and enthusiastic young people. The successful candidate will be part of the management team of Port William and Kirkinner Partnership, based at Port William Primary School.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, professional and motivated Principal Teacher to provide leadership and management within the school.  

As Principal Teacher you will work to ensure that successful learning outcomes are achieved for all pupils. The post holder will be responsible for teaching an assigned class, leading aspects of school development and carrying out management activities within the school and across the learning community. You will provide effective learning and teaching and carry out related activities and developments following local, national and school policies under the direction of the Partnership Head Teacher.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
