We are looking to find a committed, dedicated, and ambitious Principal Teacher to join our staffing team at Closeburn to cover for one term from August 2023 – October 2023 for 35 hours (1FTE).  Closeburn is a school that works closely within the community to provide excellent education for our young people.  The school team is hardworking and enthusiastic. This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to gain experience in a management role. 

You will provide effective, high quality learning and teaching and carry out related activities and developments following local, national and school policies under the direction of the Head Teacher.

This post may be suitable for secondment approval must be sought from line manager.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector. 
 
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.   
 
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident. 
 
Please note – Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session. 
 
In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT – appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence their employment or change their payscale with Dumfries and Galloway Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue pay and leave. In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and pay and leave will be adjusted.  This may have a temporary detriment to your salary however this will balance out over the course of the session.
