Principal Technician Roads Service (Roads Maintenance and Network Coordination) (17/72)

Roads & Infrastructure are looking to recruit a Principal Technician for the Roads Maintenance and Network Coordination Team. 

 

Based at Cargen Tower, Dumfries you will assist and provide support on Road Service activities throughout the region, including the supervision and training of technical staff, to Senior Officers in the delivery of various activities within the roads service. The primary function of the role is to assist with the management of the councils coordination duties under the Transport Scotland Act 2019.

 

A minimum qualification to HNC level in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and Extensive (10 Years) relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, is essential. Qualification to IEng level and NRSWA Supervisors accreditation are desirable. 

 

You should have a proven track record and/or sound knowledge of coordination responsibilities and legislation relative to a Roads Authority’s obligations for the management and maintenance of the road network.

 

Experience of working in an office environment is essential and you must be computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.

 

You must be flexible, self motivated, able to work under pressure to deadlines, possess good organisational skills and have the confidence to deal with staff, the public and contractors. You should be a team player with good oral/written communication skills.

 

An understanding and knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation, Quality Management Systems and Local Government are essential.

 

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
