We are looking to recruit a School Technician on a permanent basis to provide technical support to staff and students through the performance of a variety of activities within the Technology Department.  This is a career grade scheme post and upon completion of a comprehensive training schedule, employees progress to Qualified Technician status.

You will be required to work 21 hours per week over 41 weeks per year.

You must have a good standard of education, being educated to SCQF Level 6 or equivalent in a relevant subject with an ongoing commitment or willingness to commit to Continuous Professional Development.  Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and safe working procedures related to relevant environments is essential. Workshop Machining is desirable. You must be flexible and have the ability to work both on your own as well as part of team.  Good interpersonal skills are essential, as is a full understanding of the need for absolute confidentiality.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.  

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
