Locharbriggs Primary is situated in Dumfries Burgh and has a current school roll of 127 with a Nursery roll of 24. It is part of a vibrant community which is very supportive of the work of the school.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, efficient reliable clerical assistant who will be based on our school reception and will be the first point of contact for internal and external visitors to the office. You must have experience working with members of the public, with a core skill of communicating with clients/customers. You will be confident and highly motivated with the ability to work within a challenging, but rewarding, working environment.
You will possess good organisational and communication skills and have previous experience within an office environment. Duties include input, update and interrogation of data utilising various database systems, general clerical duties associated with an office environment. You will be required to deal with simple financial transactions. An ability to work with the minimum of supervision is essential as is a full understanding of the need for absolute confidentiality.
You must have SVQ Level 2/NC/Highers or equivalent, experience of dealing with the public and children.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
The above salary includes a current living wage supplement.
The temporary post is for a period of up to 1 year. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
