Senior Social Worker - Family Support Service (16/871)

Negotiable, service across all of Dumfries and Galloway

£46,257 - £49,824

We are looking for a Senior Social Worker to join our Family Support Service, working alongside the other Senior Social Worker. The Family Support Service started in November 2020, the early support initiative was supported by the council following the success of our previous short-term service and is now a core part of our Children’s Services. We are a very enthusiastic team with lots of ideas, skills and experience. We have had positive feedback from families who we have supported to develop their own plans and build their support networks, where possible enabling children to remain at home with their families and avoiding statutory intervention. The principles of the Promise run through our work, we listen to families about what they think would help them, we are flexible with support, visiting families at times that help them most, including during hectic morning and bedtime routines and at weekends when families need some extra help. Each plan of support is individual to the needs of each family. We want to develop of service, learning from the data we have gathered and from what families and partners have told us. We are establishing close links with third sector providers and community supports to enable families to use these services when Social Work no longer needs to be a part of their lives.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will be responsible for supervising Family Support Workers, chairing meetings, gathering and analysing data, evaluating our service, contributing towards Council Committee reports and developing our service.
