Social Work Assistant (Temporary) (16/265)
£23,331 - £25,116
This is a unique post which provides an exciting opportunity to intensively support families to create change for their children. Whilst you will have a team base, your main focus/work will be in the family’s home assessing, modelling and enabling parents and carers to better understand how to parent in an effective and nurturing way. You will be supporting families at a time of crisis and create a bespoke package of support to ensure effective, lasting change for children. Given the nature of the work there is a requirement for flexible working at times families will need support early morning, evenings and weekends in addition to usual office hours.
There will also be opportunities to develop early intervention approaches through the creation of targeted group work such as parenting programmes, resilience building for children and young carers.
All applicants must have direct experience of working with children and young people and be able to form effective relationships with children and their families. Any group work experience would be an advantage as would an understanding of the impact of neglect on Children and Families. Good problem solving skills, the ability to undertake assessments and the ability to undertake a strengths-based approach to challenges will be essential. Knowledge of existing Council Information systems (Mosaic) would be an advantage. You will be energetic and flexible, able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and able to use your initiative and experience to help provide an effective service.
Social Work Assistants must have Standard Grade English (Grade 3 or above) or equivalent.
Induction training will be provided and there will be regular support, supervision and team meetings.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
