The post is for 21.75 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year based primarily in Newton Stewart with the opportunity to agile work.
To provide an effective service to Service Users and Carers, promoting a high standard of practice, in accordance with statutory obligations, policies and procedures.
You will be required to work across the Locality of Wigtownshire as part of an Adult Social Work team within Health and Social Care.
The post requires that you support. the delivery of outcome focused assessments for people and their Carers, the negotiation, monitoring and review of flexible packages of care and an imaginative approach to meeting people’s needs within the legislative framework of the Social Care (Self Directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013.
You will be expected to practice using protective legislation, in particular the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.
You will need to have excellent communication, assessment, analytical and co-ordination skills and be able to work in a person centred and focussed way with a commitment to personal asset based planning. You will be committed to evidence based practice and will receive good support, regular supervision and opportunities for further professional development.
A Dip/SW/CQSW/CSS qualification or equivalent is essential as is registration with the Scottish Council for Social Services.
It will be a necessary requirement of the post to participate in the Out of Hours Standby Service having gained a suitable level of post qualifying experience and having received the appropriate training.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
