At Maxwelltown High School we are committed to providing the very best educational experiences and opportunities for our students. As well as our staff being highly effective classroom teachers, they are compassionate and caring individuals who are always willing to help our youngsters in any way they can.

A vacancy has arisen at Maxwelltown High School for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team to cover a period of maternity leave for three days a week.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

This is a temporary post for a period of up to 1 year.

This post forms part of Dumfries Learning Town schools and/or the bridge to deliver courses as part of the BGE and /or senior phase curriculum as appropriate to meet the needs of our learners (see attached documentation).
