St Ninian’s Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic teacher to join our team of committed professionals providing a high standard of primary education. The school has a roll of 198 with an additional 31 pupils in the Nursery. St Ninian’s is situated on the outskirts of north west Dumfries, enjoying a mixture of both urban and rural environments. The school has played a significant role in the Lochside community since 1966.

We aim to be a welcoming environment which promotes participation, achievement and attainment and we will work towards our pupils reaching their full potential and developing into successful learners, responsible citizens, confident individuals and effective contributors. We provide high quality learning and teaching experiences which cater for all learning styles and enables pupils to develop positive attitudes towards learning.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

This post is 17.5 hours per week for a temporary period of up to June 2017. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
