Job Description

This is a new and exciting role. You will be one of a team of 7 Pathways Coordinators who will play a key role in the implementation of the MCR programme in Dundee secondary schools. You will based in a school and support care-experienced and other dis-advantaged young people to improve their educational outcomes and future pathways. You will work full time, 37 hours per week on temporary basis until 31 March 2022.

Requirements

You will be educated to HNC level or equivalent within the Social Science field.

Responsibilities

To promote the outcomes identified by MCR Pathways Manager (a partnership programme of DCC C&F Service) to support young people set, experience and follow education and employment pathways.

The Individual

You will have experience of Community Development approach, relevant experience in a community based/ voluntary role with children and families, an awareness/experience of child development and knowledge of current legislation and guidance in education. You will have ability to understand and interpret the behaviours and needs of young people, parents/carers.

You will have good communication skills and assessment and reporting skills. You will have ability to work under pressure, without constant supervision and work to deadlines. You will be a team player. You will have ability to work with members of the public.

You will be reliable, self motivating, flexible, positive. You will be open and with accepting attitude.

You will be able to work flexible hours and a willingness to undertake training.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
