Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. www.leisureandculturedundee.com Sports Coaches for Gymnastics and Tennis are required, on a casual basis, to deliver classes within the current citywide sports programme. Variable hours are available and may be in multiple locations within the city. Please indicate your preferred sport(s) on your application form. When work is available you will be contacted. There is no obligation for Leisure and Culture Dundee to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work. The rate of pay is £7.16 per hour. A Living Wage supplement will be applied up to the equivalent of £8.33 per hour, as appropriate.
You will hold an a UKCC Level 1 in Scottish Gymnastics or a UKCC Level 1 in Tennis with experience in assisting practical paid / voluntary sports coaching and will have experience of working with children from a variety of backgrounds in a physical setting.
As part of a dynamic Leisure and Sport section, you will assist in the delivery of the Gymnastics or Tennis programmes for Leisure & Culture Dundee, coaching to a variety of individuals and groups, whilst adhering, where relevant, to Scottish Governing Body (SGB) guidelines and specified coach to participant ratios.
You will have a general interest in Gymnastics or Tennis and have experience of working with primary school aged children. You must be able to work effectively with a variety of professional partners, parents and children and possess excellent communication skills. You must have excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to work in a team and work independently. You must be strongly self motivated and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential and you must be flexible and adaptable. Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekend work where required. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to work being offered by Leisure and Culture Dundee.
