Job Description

Based in Dundee House, you will be part of the Mechanical Services Team providing Mechanical Services Consultancy to City Development and other Council Services. You will work full time, 37 hours per week.

Requirements

You will have Building Engineer Hons in Building Services Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in a relevant field working towards Incorporated Engineer status within CIBSE, or equivalent.

You will be an Accredited Domestic Energy Assessor.

Responsibilities

You will assist the Senior Building Services Engineer and Building Services Engineer in the provision of advisory and prescriptive services within properties, existing and planned, owned or occupied by the Council, with matters relating to Mechanical Building Services, including maintenance, design, specification, installation and use of Mechanical Services installations, including projects undertaken by, or on behalf of, the Council.

You will produce specifications, sketch proposals, working drawings, site supervision, etc, of service installations required to facilitate Dundee City Council’s construction and maintenance programmes.

You will carry out surveys and produce EPC compliant certificates for Domestic dwellings.

You will represent the Architectural Services Manager on construction projects emanating from the Division, to ensure compliance with maintenance and design specifications, materials and workmanship standards.

The Individual

You will have design and maintenance experience in Mechanical Services, knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM, a good understanding of Energy Efficiency measures, and up to date knowledge of technical standards in Mechanical Services.

You will have the ability to work with people of other disciplines and deal directly with clients. You will also be able to lead, operate and contribute within either a Mechanical or multi-disciplinary team, manage and co-ordinate Mechanical maintenance, work with minimum supervision, have effective Time Management to achieve project objectives, project programming experience, good report writing skills and be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

An ability to undertake site visits and surveys, including working at height and in confined spaces is essential, along with a flexible approach to working hours, capacity to work unsociable hours if required and commitment to producing a quality service/product within budget and timescale.
