Job Description

Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. Based at Leisure and Culture Dundee HQ at 1 Shore Terrace, working 37 hours per week, you will be part of the Leisure and Sport Performance and Business Support team, taking a lead role in increasing the profile of Leisure and Sport. You will lead the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies and plans in line with the priorities of Leisure and Sport. You will support the various services within Leisure and Sport to raise the profile of the facilities and programmes that they provide in Dundee.


A minimum of a HND or Degree or equivalent qualification in Marketing or a relevant subject as well as relevant marketing experience gained through work or study.


Lead the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies and plans in line with the priorities of Leisure and Sport. Develop, implement and evaluate a Digital Marketing plan, identifying new ways to develop and expand Leisure and Sports digital audience. Lead the development and implementation of proactive and creative ideas to generate media coverage for all areas of Leisure and Sport.

The Individual

You will require previous experience of working within a media, marketing-related environment with an established and proven track record in a similar/complimentary marketing role with transferable skills. You will have a good understanding of data analysis and evaluation to meet business needs and a sound knowledge and understanding of the leisure and sport market and target audience. Experience of public relations and media management is required, including proven experience in digital marketing and social media applications, and their role in marketing & communications for commercial/business purposes. A strong understanding of the digital landscape and how it can be used to support and develop the brand is key, along with the ability to analyse data and assist with writing statistical/marketing reports You will have experience of digital content management and excellent copy-writing and proof-reading skills for web content and print-based material, i.e. newsletters, e-bulletins, promotional leaflets etc. You must be computer literate with good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Access database packages and the ability to use the internet effectively for research purposes. You are required to effectively use Access database package for collation of and analysis of visitor survey feedback. You must have excellent communication skills oral/written, and a good telephone manner. Good organisational skills are essential, including the ability to prioritise and handle heavy workloads under pressure, including working to deadlines. You will have the ability to multi-task and meet a range of delegated deadlines, and work on own initiative, with minimum supervision. You should have a confident, passionate and enthusiastic attitude with a passion for everything digital and web-based. You must be reliable and hardworking and have good interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with people at a variety of levels. An interest in and a knowledge of social media, digital innovation and sport and/or leisure activities is essential for this role. You must have the ability to think creatively about how to target particular interest groups and managing niche campaigns.
