You will have a degree/diploma/post graduate professional qualification in Community Learning & Development or other relevant CLD professional qualification as recognised by the CLD Standards Council.


To provide Community Learning and Development opportunities which are responsive to local need leading to improved life chances through learning, personal development and active citizenship and developing stronger, more resilient, supportive, influential and inclusive communities.

Working as part of a team you will support the delivery of the Council’s Community Learning and Development priorities, which are developed through Identifying and responding to need. You will develop and support Community Development, Community Capacity Building and Community Empowerment Work. Including supporting community involvement in the management of local facilities and asset transfers. You will assist the Council in delivering on community engagement and participation work, including tenant participation, community representation and active citizen involvement

The Individual

You will have experience of working with individuals and groups in a community setting and working with statutory/ voluntary organisations.

You will have relevant experience of Capacity Building with Community Groups and experience of developing/ delivering CLD provision. You will also have experience of partnership working.

You will have experience of monitoring and evaluation and have the ability to work in a team and to set targets and work to deadlines.

You will have experience of engaging with local communities/ICT skills and management of support staff/ volunteers.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with presentation skills. You will have ability to organise own workload and the ability to work on your own initiative.

You will have group work experience, advocacy skills, the ability to motivate and have excellent ICT & Social Media.

You will be able to build trust & mutual respect with community/ tenant groups & colleagues. You will be adaptable/ flexible/ approachable/ supportive.

You will have clear understanding of the CLD Code of Ethics & apply these to practice

You will be flexible, dynamic, positive & not judgemental and have the ability to do evening work as required & occasional weekends.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
