Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. www.leisureandculturedundee.com Based in Shore Terrace, working 37 hours per week, you will be part of the Leisure and Culture Dundee Health and Wellbeing team providing a variety of Health and Fitness services.
You must hold a Level 2 Fitness Instructor Qualification.
To co-ordinate the full range of Group Exercise Classes and Coach management relating to the safe and efficient delivery of a varied programme of Adult Health & Fitness classes. To support people with long term conditions and barriers to access and attend activities provided as part of the Health and Wellbeing Hub (including providing assistance through the bookings process). Additionally, be aware of, signpost people to and support people affected by all identified long term conditions and barriers to attend generic physical activity classes across Dundee City following their involvement in the Health and Wellbeing Hub.
You will have excellent communication skills, good IT skills, be able to work with minimum supervision and organise sessions and time effectively. Experience in developing and promoting fitness activity programmes, group exercises and working in a gym environment is essential. You will be required to follow Health and Safety guidelines, Safe Systems of Work and complete Daily Checklists as part of your duties. Must be willing to undertake training opportunities for the purpose of both further and personal development such as Health and Fitness qualifications. You may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and / or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Leisure and Culture Dundee.
