Job Description

Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. www.leisureandculturedundee.com Sports Coaches for Gymnastics, Netball and Tennis are required, on a casual basis, to deliver classes within the current citywide sports programme. Variable hours are available and may be in multiple locations within the city. Please indicate your preferred sport(s) on your application form. When work is available you will be contacted. There is no obligation for Leisure and Culture Dundee to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work. The rate of pay is £8.69 per hour.


You will have the minimum qualifications required for the post, either a UKCC Level 2 for Gymnastics or Tennis or a Netball Scotland Level 1 (depending on which sport you are applying for) or higher is essential to deliver within the programmes.


As part of a dynamic Leisure and Sport section, you will lead in the delivery of the Gymnastics, Netball or Tennis programmes for Leisure & Culture Dundee, coaching to a variety of individuals and groups, whilst adhering, where relevant, to Scottish Governing Body (SGB) guidelines and specified coach to participant ratios.

The Individual

You will have a general interest in Gymnastics, Netball or Tennis and have experience of working with primary school aged children. You must be able to work effectively with a variety of professional partners, parents and children and possess excellent communication skills. You must have excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to work in a team and work independently. You must be strongly self motivated and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential and you must be flexible and adaptable. Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekend work where required. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to work being offered by Leisure and Culture Dundee.
