Based at Grove Academy, you will work full time, 35 hours per week. There are 2 posts available, both permanent, one as part of the current staffing complement and the other will be paid for through the PEF funding until June 2018 with a specific remit - thereafter it will be picked up as part of the Grove Academy staffing complement. Previous applicants need not re-apply.
You will be GTCS Registered (Secondary), have knowledge of relevant curriculum areas and an awareness of main current issues in Scottish education.
You will assist the Head Teacher in managing and leading the school and will deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute, within the collegiate ethos, to the professional life of the school. The remit of the individual Principal Teacher is detailed in the attached Job Description. Additional remit for the initially funded PEF post will include:- • Case load of ½ House Group • Wider selection of pathways in S1-3 • Improved partnerships with local businesses • Better guidance on pathways to young people • leading enhanced SIMD 1-3 SST • line manager of Family Involvement Worker (working with Cluster Primaries) • creating deeper partnership with SDS • working with SDS Adviser present in school with higher profile • supporting SDS work coach working with targeted pupils, highlighted through PASS data • leading Use of ToK to improve positive destinations and ideas of pathways for S3 (Taste of industry) • overseeing Purchase of Mahara software for Employability portfolios (S1-6)
You will also demonstrate application and knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and have experience of a wide range of classes. You will also have evidence of appropriate Professional Learning in a range of areas. In addition you will have a positive and caring approach and commitment to young people, have good communication/ interpersonal skills and relate well to others. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
