Requirements

You will either hold a qualification meeting the Scottish Social Services Council registration requirements for Housing Support Workers, or have the ability to obtain such a qualification within a specified timescale.

Responsibilities

As part of the Sheltered Warden Relief Pool, to assist the tenants in sheltered housing schemes to enjoy a secure and comfortable environment, and live as independently as possible in their own home.

The Individual

You will have experience in a similar field. You must be dependable and reliable, and able to demonstrate sensitivity and understanding in dealing with elderly/vulnerable people. You should also have a flexible approach to work and possess good communication skills, both written and verbal. You must be able to work as part of a team, on your own initiative, and with minimal supervision. As a member of the Sheltered Warden Relief Pool, it will be necessary to regularly work from different locations across the city, at short notice. You will be available to work shifts, including some evenings and weekends. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
