Job Description
There are 6 residential houses offering residential support to looked after young people and 1 house offering short stays to children with additional needs.
You will work on a casual basis.
When work is available you will be contacted. There is no obligation on the Children and Families Service to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work.

Requirements
You will have 3 National 4s, or equivalent and will have the ability to undertake HNC and SVQ3 or any other relevant qualification which provides evidence of academic achievement equivalent to or above SCQF Level 7.
Responsibilities
You will assist in the creation and maintenance of a high quality care environment in which children and young people are offered safety and security to grow, to help children and young people to make use of services and information as appropriate to their full advantage and to assist in the promotion of effective communication by and with children and young people to this end.
The Individual
We require people who are motivated and who want to make a difference to the lives of young people accommodated by Dundee City Council.
You will have experience and understanding of working collaboratively with children and young people and their families and carers.
You require an understanding of young people’s needs, the issues affecting them as individuals and the issues affecting them in a group living setting. On a daily basis you need to facilitate their care plans and offer them the necessary support and encouragement to help them reach their potential.
You will have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience of working effectively in a team.
You will be able to undertake CALM and moving and handling proceduself-reliant reliant, motivated and committed to high standards of care for children and young people.
You must be able to do a sleeping in shift.
You will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
