Job Description

Based in Millview Cottage, you will work part time, 35 hours per week. This post is currently a dedicated waking Night shift pattern, but it may well be in the future that this becomes part of a 3 shift system covering Early Shifts, Late Shifts and Night Shifts.

Requirements

You will have 3 National 4s, or equivalent or any other relevant qualification which provides evidence of academic achievement equivalent to or above SCQF Level 7. You will have the ability to undertake relevant HNC and SVQ Level 3.

Responsibilities

You will assist in the creation and maintenance of a high quality care environment in which children and young people are assured of safety and security. You will care for children and young people during the waking night shift hours as specified.

The Individual

You will have experience and understanding of working collaboratively with children and young people and their families and carers. You will have experience of working effectively in a team, be self-motivated and self-reliant. You will have good communication skills, both written and verbal.

You will understand the emotional, practical and social care needs of young people. You will have the ability to undertake Moving and Handling and CALM procedures. You will be committed to high standards of care for children and young people.

You will be able to work permanent night shift and to work up to 31 weekends.

You will register with the SSSC within a specified timescale.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
