Based in Dundee House, you will work full time, 37 hours per week, temporary until January 2019.
You will have Diploma in Social Work / CQSW / CSS (with appropriate option). MHO qualified or a willingness to undertake MHO accredited training is desirable.
You will provide an effective high quality social work service to the people of Dundee. You will be part of the First Contact Team (Adult Care and Older Peoples Intake service), which is the first point of contact for the public and referring agencies to the Health and Social Care Partnership for individuals aged 16+. You will take referral telephone calls, undertake initial assessments, visits and interviews and be the designated Council officer for all new Adult Support and Protection inquiries into the Health and Social Care Partnership.
You will have extensive post qualification experience in community care and adult support and protection work and community care case holding experience. You will also have evidenced experience of multi-agency collaborative work with other agencies. You will be able to communicate effectively with service users and carers, undertake initial assessments, relate positively with colleagues, in SW and other agencies, work to tight timescales and prioritise competing demands. You will be a creative thinker with the ability to consider different resource options, able to respond to members of the public with clarity and respect, motivated to promote the life chances of service users, willing to learn, share knowledge and keep up-to-date with research and believe that the quality of service you provide is paramount. You must be able to work beyond normal hours when needs of the service demand this. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council. You must have the ability to register with Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale.
