We have two posts available within the Care and Protection Intake service, based at Seymour House, Clepington Road. You will work full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, temporary for 6 or 9 months. Please indicate in your application which post(s) you are interested in.
You will have a Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS (with appropriate option).
You will provide an effective high quality social work service to children and families, assist children and families to live safely in the community and so prevent reception into care and work with children in care towards rehabilitation with their families of origin or towards permanent placement with substitute families.
You will have experience of working with children and families and of collaborative work with other agencies. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of child care and protection practice and legislation. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and families, undertake comprehensive assessments, work to fixed timescales and creatively and relate positively with colleagues in Social Work and other agencies. You will have a commitment to engaging families and carers in decision-making processes and to promotion of positive outcomes for children and young people. You must be available to work beyond normal hours when needs of children and families require this. You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale. This post is considered regulated work with adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
