Based at The Crescent, you will work full time, 37 hours per week.
You will have Social Work Degree, Dip SW / CQSW / CSS (with appropriate option).
To provide an effective high quality social work service to children and families. To assist children and families to live safely in the community and so prevent reception into care. To work with children in care towards rehabilitation with their families of origin or towards permanent placement with substitute families.
You will have experience of working with children and families and collaborative work with other agencies.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of child care and protection practice and legislation.
You will be able to communicate effectively with children and families, be able to undertake comprehensive assessments, be able to relate positively with colleagues and work creatively and to fixed timescales.
You will have an understanding of the needs of children who are "looked after", an awareness of models of change, a commitment to engaging families and carers in decision-making process and a commitment to promotion of positive outcomes for children and young people.
You must be able to work beyond normal hours when the needs of children and families require this.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
You will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale.
