Based within the Multi Sensory Service, working full time, 28 or 35 hours a week, providing specialist teaching in local nursery, primary and secondary schools for children and young people who are deaf or have a hearing impairment
You will be GTCS registered as a teacher (Primary, Secondary, ASN), with experience of working with children who have a hearing impairment. You will have a post-graduate qualification in ASN - Hearing Impaired and be qualified in BSL or be prepared to undertake such training.
You will work as part of a team in providing appropriate support to children and young people (0-18, pre school and in full-time education) who have hearing loss.
You will have experience of planning and recording pupil programmes within national curricular guidelines and working collaboratively with colleagues. You will be able to implement individual and group learning programmes across curricular areas and have an effective record as a classroom teacher, as well as a knowledge and experience of individual education programmes. You will also have the ability to organise effectively, have effective communication and good interpersonal skills, a clear understanding of multi-agency working and be able to demonstrate sensitivity to the wide range of additional support and education needs that pupils and their families may have. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
