Requirements

You will have a Degree in Social Work, Diploma in SW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent or SVQ Level 4 in Social Care or ability to undertake and a Registered Manager award, or the ability to undertake.

Responsibilities

To provide professional leadership as first line manager with day to day operational management responsibility for a team or teams of staff delivering front line social work services, whilst ensuring high standards of practice parameters and service provision are maintained.

The Individual

You will have experience of working with older people and/or people with disabilities and previous responsibility for managing/supervising staff. You will be working with other professionals, families and carer representatives. You will have experience of assessment/review and care planning and knowledge of community care services.

You will have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal and leadership skills. You will have the ability to problem solve creatively and to manage and chair meetings. You will have skills in decision-making, strategic planning and service development as well as motivational skills and the ability to manage change.

You will have good planning, organisational and prioritisation skills as well as negotiation and budget management skills.

You will be committed to working in partnership with older people.

You will have the ability to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified time.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
