Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city.
Leisure and Culture Dundee, in partnership with sportscotland, is looking to recruit an Active Schools Coordinator to join its successful Active Schools Team.
This exciting role requires candidates to have the desire and commitment to use sport and physical activity to improve lives of children and young people with additional needs in regular, safe and fun sports and physical activity.
In addition, candidates should have proven project management skills, good communication skills, excellent relationship building and partnership working skills and experience of engaging with children and young people through sport and physical activity.

Working 14.8 hours over two days per week within the Active Schools Team, located at Kingspark School (Additional Support Needs). This exciting role requires candidates to have the desire and commitment to use sport and physical activity to improve the lives of children and young people.
This is a fixed term post until 31 March 2023.
Candidates should be Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline and/or GTCS registered.
The fundamental aim of the Active Schools Network is to offer children and young people the opportunities and motivation to adopt active, healthy lifestyles, now and into adulthood.
Active Schools Managers and Co-ordinators are responsible for developing an infrastructure to recruit, support and sustain a network of volunteers, coaches, leaders and teachers who in turn deliver physical activity and sport before, during and after school and in the wider community.
You will have experience of working with children in education, sport, health, leisure and/or recreation industry and the ability to identify good practice and promote the role of physical activity (including sport, play, health and active travel) as a contributor to community development.
You will have experience in leading and managing of projects in areas of education, sport, health, leisure and/or recreation industry, as well as experience of budgeting and reporting procedures.
You will be able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work on own initiative, to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal colleagues, and to assist with the process of integration, bringing together all elements of Active Schools work.
You must be able to respond positively and enthusiastically to change within Active Schools and Leisure and Culture Dundee, as well as having the ability to recognise, create and seize opportunities to put ideas into practice and order to achieve objectives. You will work effectively with a wide range of different people at every level and in different organisations and be able to present information in an interesting and stimulating manner.
The ability to positively overcome internal and external barriers at all levels in order to achieve results, as well as the ability to build trust and devolve responsibility and resources to partners/colleagues is essential for this role.
You will be IT literate.
You will have experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to lead and develop programmes and projects from conception to implementation.
You will be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
