Job Description

Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city.

You will be based at Ancrum Outdoor Centre and provide session cover in an adhoc capacity to help meet service demands and when work is available you will be contacted. There is no obligation for Leisure & Culture Dundee to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work. The rate of pay is £11.79 per hour.

Requirements

You will hold a relevant further education qualification and have experience of coaching young people in a number of adventure activities. You must hold at least 3 of the following National Govern Body Awards: WGL/ LLA/ ML (Summer), SPA or Climbing Wall Award, Level 2 coach in paddlesports, Mountain Bike Leader/ Trail Cycle Leader, Archery, RYA sailing instructor awards.

Responsibilities

You will lead and instruct high quality outdoor learning courses and programmes for Ancrum Outdoor Centre on an adhoc basis to meet service demands.

The Individual

You will have experience as and be an active practitioner in 3 or more mainstream outdoor adventure activities and be able to communicate effectively with young people of all abilities and backgrounds. You will lead and assist course participants in a range of outdoor adventure activities.

You will have experience of delivering outdoor learning to a range of clients and have an understanding of the contribution that outdoor and environmental education plays in lifelong learning and the development of young people. You will be a friendly, outgoing person with a strong commitment to providing safe, fun adventure experiences to groups.

You must hold a current driving licence (D1+E).

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to work being offered by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
