Job Description

Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city.

We have a range of exciting opportunities to join our vibrant Football Development coaching team delivering sports opportunities across the city. 

We are currently seeking to recruit Lead Coaches to deliver within our pre-school programme (3-5yrs) and primary programme (5-12yrs).  Classes run Monday to Saturday at various times, 35 weeks per year.  There are a variety of hours available.  

Our pre school Little Kicker programme will involve play leaders to deliver football related story themed activity that captures the imagination of our participants and provide them with the opportunity to develop core motor skills, develop spacial awareness, developing relationships and engaging in lifelong participation in the sport. The post holder will be responsible for delivering in nursery settings and sport centres during curriculum time or extracurricular. 

Our primary age programmes will require an enthusiastic coach to plan and deliver programmes following our framework/curriculum whilst also supporting each individual through a robust player pathway and helping to develop a love for the game that will encourage life long participation in sport. The post holder will be responsible for delivering in school and sport centre settings, these may include breakfast clubs, lunchtime, afterschool or curriculum time delivery.

For contracted hours, times of work and locations are changeable depending on the needs of the programme. 

For casual work, when work is available you will be contacted.  There is no obligation for Leisure & Culture Dundee to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work.  The rate of pay is £10.93 per hour.

Requirements

You will hold a Scottish FA Level 1 (this includes 1.1, 1,2 & 1.3 modules) on the Children Pathway

Responsibilities

As part of a dynamic Leisure and Sport section, you will assist in the delivery of the Football programmes for Leisure & Culture Dundee, coaching to a variety of individuals and groups, whilst adhering, where relevant, to Scottish Governing Body (SGB) guidelines and specified coach to participant ratios.

The Individual

You will have a general interest in Football and have experience of working with pre school and/or primary school aged children and experience in assisting practical paid/voluntary sports coaching working with children from a variety of backgrounds in a physical setting.

You must have excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to work in a team and work independently. You must be strongly self-motivated with excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential and you must be flexible and adaptable.

You must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekend work where required, as well as undertaking personal development.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being offered by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
