Job Summary

Our Care at Home Service, provides essential care to the most vulnerable in our communities, within their own homes. Successful applicants will provide a range of services, including personal care. You should have some experience of working in a care setting, or with older or disabled people.

 

Working hours will be across a shift pattern inclusive of Early shifts and Late shifts across a 7 day period including weekends within the hours 7:30am to 10pm. There are posts available across different teams and geographical areas up to 30 hours per week.

We offer competitive rates of pay and generous terms and conditions.

It is desirable to have an SVQ level 2/ SCQF level 6 qualification, but East Dunbartonshire Council will seek to support and fund successful applicants in achieving an SVQ2 qualification.

It is preferable that you hold a full Driving Licence as for posts in some teams this is essential, Care at Home pool cars are available for use during shifts.

All successful applicants will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of starting employment. As part of the 2022-2023 local authority pay deal you will not have to pay application or renewal fees.

The commitment by East Dunbartonshire Council to job applicants is as follows:

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

 

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.  

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.  

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.  

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
