It is East Lothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be placed on the first point of the salary scale.  

Hourly rate of pay:  £18.12 - £20.41
Working on an 'ad hoc' basis, as & when required to meet the business need
There are no guaranteed minimum number of hours per week with relief/casual posts

East Lothian Works are recruiting experienced individuals to work with adults and/or young people (post school) to improve their literacy, numeracy, IT and employability skills. In line with the Scottish Government's No One Left Behind strategy and the draft Adult Learning Strategy, tutors will be part of the wider employability team, offering a learner centred approach and supporting those furthest away from the labour market to make meaningful progression along the strategic skills pipeline. SQA qualifications in Core Skills and Employability are offered as part of our provision and tutors would be expected to deliver these either on a 1-1 basis or in groups.

Job Details

To deliver a range of core skills courses and 1:1 tuition to young people (post school) and adults. Use appropriate methods to promote learning and achievement, including the associated activities related to the preparation, delivery and assessment of the course.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to a minimum of HNC/SVQ Level 3 in the subject being delivered and have previous experience of tutoring/teaching groups in an Adult Learning context or tutoring/teaching in a school setting.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
