Monday - Thursday 08.00 -16.30, Friday 09.00 - 13.00  - with one floating hour to be taken at a time to suit the service

Olivebank provides a vital service for  children from birth to school age over 52 weeks per year, many of whom are on the Child Protection Register or are Looked after Children.  The Depute Manager is a key member of the unit's management team, deputising for the Manager when required and providing cover within the playrooms to ensure that we comply with National Care Standards at all times across the centre. 

To  assist the Centre Manager with the management , Coordination and development of a unit based service for children 0- 5 years and ensuring that theses services meet the needs and maximise the potential of the children and their families whilst complying with professional standards and council policies and procedures. 

Interviews will be scheduled to take place during the week beginning 22 November 2021.

Job Details

To assist the Centre Co-ordinator with the management, co-ordination and development of a unit-based service for children 0 – 5 years and in ensuring that these services meet the needs and maximise the potential of the children and their families whilst complying with professional standards and Council policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
PDA Level 9 in Childcare Practice OR BA in Childhood Practice [or equivalent]
AND A practice qualification [HNC Childhood Practice or SVQ3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent] as required for SSSC registration.

Scottish Social Services Council
SSSC registration is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are 
not already a member of the Manager/lead practitioner of a day care of children service 
section of the SSSC Register you will be required to apply for registration as soon as 
possible and this must be achieved within six months of your start date.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
