Gullane Primary School is looking for an innovative and determined Depute Head Teacher to play an influential role to ensure our young people achieve the best educational outcomes.

Gullane Primary School lies at the edge of the village and serves an area that is mainly rural. The school has recently undergone a significant extension, with a new purpose built Nursery, 14 classrooms and a spacious PE/Assembly hall. The early years’ area has a quiet room/library and the upper/middle area includes a library and staff work base. The school has 2 multi-use hall, which provide space for P.E., music, drama, assembly and dining. Both halls can also used for a range of after school activities throughout the session.

There are extensive playing facilities in the school grounds and also in the adjoining East Lothian Council field. We have access to an all-weather pitch, skate park, football pitch, play park and the Millennium Wood. The nursery has its own enclosed outdoor play area which is accessed daily and in all weathers.

Gullane Primary School, which is co-educational and non-denominational, provides education for children of approximately five to twelve years. At present there are approximately 215 pupils in 10 classes. The nursery currently has provision for 48 children aged 3-4 years in a 48 week setting.

There is a very supportive parent body and the PTA and Parent Partnership work well with the school. The village sees the school as important to their community and support it well.

Gullane is expanding and, as a result of the housing development that is taking place it is anticipated that the school roll will continue to grow. The new Depute Head Teacher will have a significant remit in supporting the Nursery and Early Years provision, as well as directly supporting the Head Teacher across the school.
