Haddington Primary School is situated in the heart of Haddington consisting of two campuses and provides education for approximately 850 pupils . The majority of pupils move on to Knox Academy at the end of P7. We ensure we have well established procedures to support children. We have very strong links with all schools in the Haddington Associated School Group and work closely with them, in addition to the Community Learning Development Team, to ensure positive experiences for all of our pupils both in and out of school. We are fortunate to have access to a range of facilities in the local area e.g. library, sports centre, outdoor learning spaces etc. We make good use of these to enhance our children’s educational experience. Haddington Primary School works within an ethos of Support, Inclusion and Nurture.  We can boast that our values of HAPPY, POSITIVE and SUCCESSFUL are realised and all within out school community comment that it is a safe, happy and effective place to learn and to work.

The successful candidate will be based in the Upper Campus (P.4 to P.7) initially. Despite being based in the upper campus, this post consists of several whole school responsibilities including responsibility for Learning and Teaching. Knowledge and experience of STEM and Digital Learning would be desirable but not essential.

Job Details

The role of a Depute Head Teacher is to assist and, where necessary, to deputise for the Head Teacher as required. The role of the Head Teacher is, within the resources available, to conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by East Lothian Council under the overall direction of the Head of Education.

Full GTCS Registration is required.

Please Note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session
In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with East Lothian Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year),  recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay.   

In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted.  Further information will be provided to the successful candidate should this be applicable.
