It is East Lothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be placed on the first point of the salary scale. 
The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year).  Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.

Temporary maternity cover until August 2022

East Lothian Children’s Services have an exciting opportunity for a family support worker to join the department as maternity cover until August 2022. The successful candidate will be working alongside social workers, senior practitioners and team leaders in order to support families in a wide range of settings. This could include: being part of the team assessing a child’s needs, one to one support of children, practical support for parents and carers and / or assessing contact between children and their families.

Applicants should have a sound value base with excellent communication and writing skills and a good knowledge and understanding of children and families and the many difficulties they can experience.

Job Details

To work as part of a supervisory Group providing direct support to the children and families and contributing to the delivery of Children’s Wellbeing services provided to vulnerable children, young people and their families in East Lothian.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HNC and hold an SVQ Level 3 in either Social Care, Promoting Independence or Working with Young People and Children and able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

Driving Licence 
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
