Information security is an increasing area of risk for the Council. It has been identified that there is a need to increase the Council's capacity in this area and consequently we are looking to recruit an IT Specialist in information security. The post holder will report to the Team Manager - IT Infrastructure and Security and will be responsible for a full range of information and IT security duties.
Responsible for managing the Council's information governance and technical compliance function for the Council by designing and implementing effective measures to ensure effective and complaint security of the Councils information systems in the face if cyber and other information security threats preparing avoidance, mitigation and contingency measures for identified risks.

Relevant degree and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
This post involves accessing the public services network, therefore the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS). The preferred candidate will be subject to a Basic Disclosure provided by Disclosure Scotland prior to a formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
