The Council is undertaking an ambitious digital transformation programme and is seeking to enhance the capacity and capabilities of the IT Service. We are looking to recruit an experienced IT networking specialist to to join our high performing multi-disciplinary Infrastructure & Security team. The team is responsible for the development and support of the Councils voice and data networks, cloud, servers and storage infrastructure and IT security policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, managing and implementing our WAN and LAN infrastructure ensuring it is fit for purpose, secure and enables the high availability of our systems required by our agile workforce and customer base. In addition to the day-to-day infrastructure element, the successful candidate will have a key role to play in the continued development and implementation of the Council's Digital Strategy and Transformation programme with a particular focus on the infrastructure and security elements as part of the wider IT Management Team
Experience of some of the following a large-scale corporate environment would be an advantage:
SD Wan technologies, large scale Wi-Fi-6 deployments, VLANS, VOIP, vulnerability and risk management, packet capture analysis, IT hardware security best practices i.e device hardening, IPsec, Firewall management , certificate management. Stakeholder management including excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Exposure to the implementation of M365 technologies and associated governance rules, ITIL, and Project Management methodologies, would also be advantageous.
This role this role will be remote working from the successful candidate's home for the foreseeable future. However, you should be willing and able to visit our HQ in Haddington or other council sites as required. Longer term options for continuing home working, hybrid working, and full-time office-based working are available.

To work as a senior member of the IT Infrastructure & Security team with a primary focus on leading the strategic design and development of the Council’s voice and data networks to enable Council wide digital transformation. The key areas of responsibility are:
Providing specialist high level IT advice and guidance to Council management, services, and colleagues on all aspects of IT network infrastructure.
Designing and developing the Council’s voice and data networks and associated security and support infrastructure.
Supervising and organising the day-to-day development and support work of the team.
Working with Service Departments to bring about transformational change.
Creating specifications of requirements and running procurement exercises.
Providing Level 3 IT support
Plan and organise development sprints for the team.
Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are developed and applied.
