INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY
Applications for this post will only be accepted from current employees of East Lothian Council (this includes casual and agency staff who are currently undertaking work for us).

The Council is undertaking an ambitious digital transformation programme and is seeking to enhance the capacity and capabilities of the IT Service. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong customer focus to join our busy IT Team. The primary role of the post will be to assist Elected members and Council Officers to connect to the Council's hybrid meetings system and support them when Council and Committee meetings are in progress. The secondary role is to assist with Incident and Request Management calls to our IT Service Desk from all Council Services including schools.

While technical skills are important to us, we are looking for people with good communication and problem-solving skills who are able to put customers at their ease and explain technical issues in simple terms.

The successful candidate will work both on their own and with colleagues across the service to carry out all aspects of the support lifecycle. This will include logging and triaging calls, providing fixes and work arounds, resolving incidents and requests, and assisting with wider work of the service including participating in technology roll out and refresh projects and undertaking patching and upgrading as necessary.

The successful candidate should be keen to maintain a proactive approach to customer satisfaction, identifying concerns before they become problems and continue to develop their IT skills and keep abreast of the latest technologies.

They will be able to manage their time effectively and be equally comfortable working alone or as part of a team. Experience of providing end user support and supporting Microsoft Office is desirable.

Due to nature of this role, it is office based and will operate out of our Headquarters at John Muir House in Haddington.
